A Helpful Bible: The One Year Bible

I think everybody should have a game-plan for reading the Bible. The One Year Bible, which helps you read the entire Bible in one year in as little as 15 minutes a day, is a great option. The One Year Bible guides readers through God’s Word with daily readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. I am currently reading through using the NLT version.

A Great Grocery Service – Amazon Fresh

We recently had our groceries delivered to our doorstep — literally to our door in less than 2 hours! Amazon recently made Amazon Fresh deliveries free for Amazon Prime members. We hate grocery shopping, so this was a no-brainer for us to try. We put our list together while eating lunch on Saturday, and 2 hours later, it showed up! The food was fresh. The prices were great. This is going to be a game-changer for us!

A Delicious Breakfast Spot – The Flying Biscuit Café

I met my buddy Mike for breakfast last week and boy was the food and company good! I ordered the Meggxican Wrap: Spicy scramble of eggs, cheddar cheese, onions, and serrano peppers wrapped in a flour tortilla, topped with warm tomato salsa and a dollop of sour cream. I added a pancake to my order for good measure. There are several locations around Atlanta and a few out of state.

A Great Book on Apple & Leadership: Tim Cook

Steve Jobs’ selection of Tim Cook as his successor at Apple surprised a lot of people. Their leadership styles are polar opposites, yet Tim Cook has successfully taken Apple to the next level. I am about 50% through this book. It has been interesting to learn more about Apple itself and see how Jobs knew that Apple needed a different kind of leader to keep growing.

    From Amazon:

“Journalist Leander Kahney reveals how CEO Tim Cook has led Apple to astronomical success after the death of Steve Jobs in 2011.

The death of Steve Jobs left a gaping void at one of the most innovative companies of all time. Jobs wasn’t merely Apple’s iconic founder and CEO; he was the living embodiment of a global megabrand. It was hard to imagine that anyone could fill his shoes–especially not Tim Cook, the intensely private executive who many thought of as Apple’s “operations drone.”

But seven years later, as journalist Leander Kahney reveals in this definitive book, things at Apple couldn’t be better. Its stock has nearly tripled, making it the world’s first trillion dollar company. Under Cook’s principled leadership, Apple is pushing hard into renewable energy, labor and environmentally-friendly supply chains, user privacy, and highly-recyclable products. From the massive growth of the iPhone to lesser-known victories like the Apple Watch, Cook is leading Apple to a new era of success.”

    An Enneagram Assessment: iEQ9

The Enneagram is a helpful personality typing system that helps understand the motivations behind WHY we live our lives the way we do. There are 9 basic “types” that each influence our behavior. The iEQ9 is the most comprehensive assessment I’ve seen for the Enneagram. It is pricy, but really helpful in developing self-awareness and empathy for others. You’ll be a better spouse, parent, leader, friend, etc. by applying the lessons you learn from the Enneagram. My favorite less expesive assessment is this one.

A Local Keto Dessert Bakery: Amazing Glaze Bake Shop

The Amazing Glaze Bake Shop makes Keto friendly, sugar free, and gluten free goodies. They ship nationally. If you are local to Gwinnett County, you can pick up a treat at their sister shop, The Baking Grounds. My favorite treat is the chocolate chip cookie stuffed with an Oreo inside. Yum!

A Great Book for Moms and Daughters: Mended

I had the pleasure of getting to know authors Blythe Daniel and Helen McIntosh several years ago. They are some of the kindest, authentic people you’d ever meet! Their book, Mended, is a great resource for anybody that wants to strengthen their mother-daughter relationship. What an important relationship and what a great resource!

      From Amazon:

“Ever wonder why mothers and daughters can be so different and even seem to speak different languages?

Mended gives you conversation starters to speak life into your relationship with your mother or daughter. Discover powerful words that usher in healing for wounded hearts and rebuild, restore, and reconcile your connection.

Set new patterns going forward as you…

      • find common ground and put your relationship ahead of your differences
      • learn what to say when you don’t know what to say
      • grow closer when you do hard things together

If you have a difficult history with your mother or daughter, you don’t have to continue patterns of brokenness. No matter how worn you feel, you don’t have to become unthreaded. God wants to mend your heart to His and to hers.”

A Book I’m Listening To: Rhythms of Renewal

I am captivated by the premise of this book: you can trade stress and anxiety for a life of peace and purpose. Author Rebekah Lyons does a great job of weaving encouraging stories and practical steps to begin an intentional, lifelong journey toward sustained emotional, relational, and spiritual health. If there is anything we need, it’s sustained, true health.

A Tasty Seafood Restuarant – Atlanta Fish Market

Atlanta Fish Market is one of our favorite upscales restaurants to go to. Laura loves all things seafood, especially raw oysters, crab legs, and sea bass. I don’t eat a lot of seafood, but AFM has a fantastic fried lobster tail meal that I love! Pro tip: buy The Ultimate Dining Card. You get a 10% bonus each time you reload this card — essentially giving you 10% off each meal. The card works at some of Atlanta’s best restaurants.

A Great Book – The Great Divorce by CS Lewis

        From Amazon:

“C.S. Lewis’ The Great Divorce is a classic Christian allegorical tale about a bus ride from hell to heaven. An extraordinary meditation upon good and evil, grace and judgment, Lewis’s revolutionary idea in The Great Divorce is that the gates of Hell are locked from the inside. Using his extraordinary descriptive powers, Lewis’ The Great Divorce will change the way we think about good and evil.”

A Keto Bakery in Sandy Springs – Zambawango

I follow a keto eating plan about 80% of the time. It’s nice to have some keto dessert options! Zambawango is a dessert and coffee shop in the heart of Sandy Springs, specializing in exceptional Low Carb, sugar, and gluten-free, all-natural European and American desserts and pastries. All of their desserts are baked in-house, daily.

        A Time-saving Service – Amazon Prime

I buy almost everything we need for our house through Amazon Prime. You can find nearly anything you need and have it delivered to your house within a day or two. Why fight traffic? A pro-tip is to use their “Subscribe and Save” service so that items you need show up each month automatically. The more items you bundle, the greater the discount. We get all of our coffee, paper towels, dish soap, etc. delivered each month.

An Interesting App – ISS Tracker

My father-in-law introduced me to ISS Tracker. ISS Tracker is a website and app that helps you view the International Space Station as it is passing over your region.
