A Great Book – Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen

From Amazon:

Are your thoughts holding you captive? I’ll never be good enough. Other people have better lives than I do. God couldn’t really love me. Jennie Allen knows what it’s like to swirl in a spiral of destructive thoughts, but she also knows we don’t have to stay stuck in toxic thinking patterns.

As she discovered in her own life, God built a way for us to escape that downward spiral. Freedom comes when we refuse to be victims to our thoughts and realize we have already been equipped with power from God to fight and win the war for our minds.

In Get Out of Your Head, Jennie inspires and equips us to transform our emotions, our outlook, and even our circumstances by taking control of our thoughts. Our enemy is determined to get in our heads to make us feel helpless, overwhelmed, and incapable of making a difference for the kingdom of God. But when we submit our minds to Christ, the promises and goodness of God flood our lives in remarkable ways.

It starts in your head. And from there, the possibilities are endless.

An App for Tracking your Meals – MyFitnessPal

Tracking meals has been a great way for me to pay attention to what I’m eating. I’ve found that while some foods give me energy, others leave me drained. By tracking my meals, I’m able to figure out what foods fuel me and stay on the path of achieving my health goals. This app connects with many other apps that I use, making the data even more useful.

A Weather App with some Spunk – CARROT Weather

CARROT is a slick weather app. It is powerful and detailed. It also reports the weather in a sarcastic way. So if you like a little sass, check it out.

A Quote from I’m Thinking About

One God-honoring thought has the potential to change the trajectory of both history and eternity. Just as one uninterrupted lie in my head has the potential to bring about unimaginable destruction in the world around me.” — Jennie Allen

A Great Set of Bluetooth Earbuds – Raycon E25

I own several pairs of Bluetooth earbuds. Bluetooth is great, especially at the gym. You don’t have to worry about cords getting getting caught on equipment. These Raycon earbuds are about half the price of other high-quality earbuds and the people I know who have them love them. I will try them the next time I need a new pair.

A Great Book for Pastors – Lead Like a Shepherd

This is a great little book on spiritual leadership.

      From Amazon:

Pastor, author, and leadership consultant unpacks instruction for church leaders found in 1 Peter 5:1-4 where they are exhorted to shepherd the flock among them.

Some instruction is timeless. Regardless of the age in which we live, certain instruction carries no expiration on its relevance. Pastor, author, and leadership consultant, Larry Osborne has discovered this to be the case with instruction on how to be a good leader. The best, most practical advice comes from the Bible, and in particular, 1 Peter 5:1-4. It’s in this short passage where leaders are exhorted to shepherd the flock among them.

Unfortunately, most modern leaders have precious little experience tending sheep and many of the implications that were well understood when Peter penned these words are lost on today’s reader. Osborne finds the parallels to be numerous, well-worth reviewing and understanding anew.

A shepherd leads them to water even when they fear it. A shepherd never allows one sick lamb to destroy the flock. A shepherd lays down his life for his sheep . . .

When leaders truly understand Peter’s words of exhortation to lead like a shepherd, then they will begin to see the path that leads them to Leading Well.

      Low Carb Chips – BeyondChipz

It’s probably no surprise that I like chips and salsa. BeyondChipz are a good low carb chip available in multiple flavors. I’ve tried the Bang Bang Ranch flavor and like them. The website, thinslimfoods.com, has many other low carb treats as well. I’m a big fan of their pasta.

A Tasty Texan BBQ Joint in Flowery Branch – Moonies BBQ

I’m late to the party here. Moonies is just a few minutes from my house and somehow I hadn’t tried it in 2 years! My Texan friend, Phil, vouches that Moonies serves authentic Texas-style BBQ. They slice and weigh your meat as you order it. The meat is great and the sides are delicious. I’d encourage you to give it a try.
