Today is Memorial Day, a day that is set apart for us to honor the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in service for our country. There are thousands of heroic soldiers who have fallen while fighting for us. Yesterday, we recognized them in our church. Today I wanted to take moment t
o say thank you.
My dad served in the military for 37 years and encouraged me to do the same. I served for 7 years and loved the opportunity and grew from the experience. I served in the Air National Guard which is a branch of the Air Force. I took their core values to heart. Their values are:
Integrity First
Service Before Self
Excellence in all We Do
The latest stat I read said that there are over 25 million veterans living in the United States. One stat showed that approximately 20 percent of the US population has a current member or a deceased member of their family that served in one of our armed forces.
I want to encourage you to honor veterans today. Here are a few simple ways to do that:
– Say thank you when you see a veteran or a person in a military uniform.
– Send a thank-you note to a veteran.
– Visit a veteran in a local veterans’ hospital or veterans’ home.
Happy Memorial Day!
Are you a veteran? Do you have one in your family? I’d love to hear about them below.
